This is a fanfic of Eliezer Yudkowsky's famous Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality. In this alternate world, Petunia married an Oxford Professor named Michael Verres instead of Vernon Dursley, and Harry is raised with an understanding of science and rationality by the time the letters from Hogwarts arrive. As the story starts a bit rough around the edges, I decided to experiment with a rewrite of the first four chapters to examine how they might be "smoothed out" to try and better match the depth and brilliance of the rest of the story in tone and characterization, and add more context so as not to assume the readers are familiar with the canon series. If you haven't read HPMOR before and you enjoyed these 4 chapters, I can promise that the rest of the story is even better. Harry Potter is owned by J.K. Rowling.
